The exhibition was small and there was nothing particularly exciting about it, apart from the fact the square had clearly both inspired and haunted the artists.<\/p>\n<p>Then the square began to haunt me, too. The following day, after several hours of strolling the streets of Tallinn, I found this photo in my smartphone. I don&#8217;t remember having taken any, so it has come about accidentally when the phone has been in my pocket.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/liipetti.net\/erratic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mn3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-115\" src=\"http:\/\/liipetti.net\/erratic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mn3-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"mn3\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/liipetti.net\/erratic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mn3-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/liipetti.net\/erratic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mn3-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/liipetti.net\/erratic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mn3-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/liipetti.net\/erratic\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/mn3.jpg 1816w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, this is not a black square, it is a deconstruction of one, just like most of the works I had seen in the exhibition. Anyway, I tried to work my way further with this image, situating it in a series of images like in this video, \u00c4\u00e4rien v\u00e4lill\u00e4 n\u00e4kyy (Visible between the extremes).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZF03q1ssr5k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Some time later, when I was working with Processing sketches, I returned to the Black Square in a form of an interactive webcam sketch, which I then used to make this short video on the elusiveness of the black square.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vufA7DE_ohM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The music on this video is my own, with EzDrummer playing the drums and myself on the bass, an acoustic guitar and a five-string electric violin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In June this year, I visited the Kumu art museum in Tallinn, Estonia, to see a small exhibition about metamorphoses of Malevitch&#8217; Black Square in Estonian art.
