Sovinnonele (Reconcile gesture)
Reconcile gesture painting arose from shock after a random murder between two young people in Kerava. I reflected on how such an act forever binds two families together. The loss for the victim’s family is immeasurable and impossible for an outsider to fully understand. From this reflection emerged a question: could one extend flowers on behalf of the murderer as a gesture of consolation and reconciliation? What kind of flowers would those be?
The painting Uhkakuva (Threat Image) reflects a threat that is difficult to perceive or believe. It is like a serpent that has slithered into paradise, yet people fail to recognize it or take it seriously.
