Sovinnonele (Reconcile gesture)
Reconcile gesture painting arose from shock. In Kerava, a murder occurred where a young person killed another young person without reason, randomly. I pondered how such a murder would forever connect these two families. The loss for the family and relatives of the murdered young person is immeasurable. I don’t believe that an outsider can even comprehend it. Nevertheless, from the depths of my heart, the idea arose: could I extend flowers on behalf of the murderer to console and offer reconciliation to the parents of the murdered young person? What kind of flowers would those be?
The painting Uhkakuva (Threat image) is related to a threat that is difficult to perceive or believe. It’s like a serpent that has slithered into paradise, but humans don’t believe it or take it seriously.
